Our Deal Lake project is very much a study in connection between the 1920s Mediterranean architecture of the main house, modern additions, and the delicate ecosystem of the lakefront site itself. Originally an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, Deal Lake has a significant impact on the landscape of the seven shore communities that border it. So it was with an eye towards the water that all elements of the design were tied. In order to strengthen this indoor/outdoor connection, circulation was clearly defined to improve access and interaction with the lake, existing plantings were edited to emphasize lake views, and invasives addressed to re-establish the native plant palette.
